Fairmont’s Goodpaster, Downing headed to Defiance
KETTERING - Matt Goodpaster and Tyler Downing, both 2011 graduates of Fairmont High School, have signed to play baseball at Defiance College.
A three-year letter winner, Goodpaster was 1-1 on the mound with a 3.79 ERA in 24 innings during his senior year. Matt will pitch for the Yellow Jackets and is undecided on his major.
During their careers, the Firebirds posted a two 20-win seasons, and were regional and district runners-up.
Also signing to play baseball in college are 2011 Fairmont grads Charlie Jones (Baldwin-Wallace) and Jackson Lockhart (Freed-Hardeman, Tenn.).
