Covington’s Cancer Fighting 5k back for a 3hree-peat

The village of Covington will welcome back the cancer-fighting 5k for its third year. The Herbie Fuzz 5k will be Aug. 18 at Covington High School with an 8 a.m. bird bomb start.
All proceeds raised will be divided equally between the Ohio State University James Cancer Center and Good Samaritan North Cancer Centers. The 5k event offers opportunities for runners, walkers, strollers and dogs, with prizes being awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Prizes also will be offered to the first stroller and first dog to cross.
Registration flyers are available by e-mailing your contact information to theherbiefuzz5k@gmail.com. Participants also can register online at www.speedy-feet.com.
Pre-registration of $15 is due by Aug. 6. Registration from Aug. 7 to 18 will be $20. A half-mile Kids Fun Run will be offered to all kids age 10 and younger at the conclusion of the 5k. The Fun Run is $10 with a shirt, $5 without.

More than $7,000 has been donated in their name to each hospital. Donations can be made at Fifth Third Bank on High Street in Piqua, at the Herbie Fuzz 5k event, or by mailing them to HF5K, 331 S. High St., Covington, OH 45318.
