Harrigan’s South to become new South Beach Nite Club
WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — The Harrigan’s South location at 671 Lyons Road that opened in May 2010 has closed, and the nearby nightclub South Beach is in the process of moving into the vacated tavern.
South Beach — at 729 Lyons Road also in the Washington Park Plaza — was closed over the weekend, but the nightclub’s Facebook page says it will open at its new location on Saturday. The Washington Twp. space previously housed the Fox & Hound until that sports bar closed in late 2008.
Dave Haig, co-owner of Harrigan’s, said the poor economy was the primary factor behind the decision to close Harrigan’s South, which affected about 11 employees.
“Everyone’s suffering right now,” Haig said of the area’s economy.
The closing will have no impact on the Harrigan’s Tavern at 4070 Marshall Road in Kettering. “Business is great here,” Haig said of the Kettering location. “We’re holding our own.”
