New frozen yogurt shop now open in Kettering
KETTERING — A new independently owned frozen yogurt shop called Awesome Yogurt opened this week at 3012 Far Hills Ave.
The yogurt shop, which employs eight people, is the second business to open in a new shopping development called The Shops at 3000 at the Far Hills Avenue-East Dorothy Lane intersection. A Subway restaurant opened in the center May 31, and three more businesses — a drug store, bakery and Verizon Wireless store — are slated to open later this year.
Awesome Yogurt is owned by Naomi Fogel of Kettering, who said she has been a stay-at-home mom to three children for 15 years before looking for an opportunity to operate her own business. Fogel said she researched several frozen-yogurt chain franchise opportunities before deciding to open an independent store.
The shop offers 10 flavors of frozen yogurt, including a non-dairy option and a sugar-free option every day. Fresh-cut fruit is available every day, as are candy toppings. The yogurt is sold for 45 cents per ounce. Fogel said she was “very encouraged” by the initial customer response.
Summer hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
