Visiting German winemaker offers history in a glass
In the United States of America, a winery that has been around since the 1960s is considered, well, historical. Contrast that to the Max Ferd. Richter winery in the central Mosel region of Germany, which has been under the ownership of the Richter family for three centuries. Not decades. Centuries.
And the winery’s owner and family patriarch Dr. Dirk Richter is coming to Dayton to pour his wines at Arrow Wine & Spirits’ Centerville store from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 10). It’s your opportunity to taste history in a glass — and some fine Mosel rieslings, too.
Dayton must be an important market for Richter — or he just likes coming here. He has been to Dayton multiple times, as the signed bottle of 2007 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese that is resting comfortably in my cellar will attest.
